SUAR AKDEMİR'S “ARE YOU SURE?” EXHIBITION AT MERKUR
MERKUR is hosting a solo exhibition titled "Are You Sure?" by Suat Akdemir, one of the most important representatives of abstract painting. The exhibition, which will be on view between November 29 and December 24, 2012, brings together images from the artist's new period.
In the exhibition consisting of 3 separate sections titled "Ready", "Şeh-wet" and "Burning", Suat Akdemir shares, in his own words, what he has left, what he did yesterday and what he wants to come his way in the future. The artist's unique abstract expression language, which bears traces of her personal story, gains a new position for herself by combining with a different technique from the applications she has transferred to the surface so far. Setting out with the question "Are you sure about your questions, wishes, thoughts, what you know, what you read, yesterday, tomorrow?", the artist makes expressive works such as pencil on paper and three-dimensional installations on duralite complement his canvases.
Apart from the exhibition, the works that convey the artist's inner interpretations and approaches will also gain permanent visibility with the 160-page book Are you sure? MERKUR invites the audience to share the "leftovers" of Suat Akdemir, who brings a new language to abstract painting with his extraordinary technique.
